Appearance
Customize endOS themes, icons, colors, wallpaper, syntax highlighting, and Terminal presentation.
Use Settings to control how endOS looks, from desktop-wide themes and wallpaper to Terminal fonts, colors, and layered backgrounds.
Open appearance settings

Your wallpaper selection is stored as part of the active theme preset.
Theme
The Theme section lets you customize the desktop's appearance with complete presets or individual colors and palettes.
Choose and manage a preset
The Preset control switches between built-in and custom appearance packs. The built-in presets are:
- Disco
- Evergreen
- SF
- NYC
- Liquid Metal
- Potato
- Bloom
- 9PM
- 9AM
You can create a custom preset or delete one you no longer need. When a custom preset is active, use Custom preset name to rename it. Wallpaper in preset shows its wallpaper, and Edit wallpaper opens the Wallpaper section.
Style app icons

| Tinted app icons | Uses one icon-background color when icon backgrounds are on. |
| Tint color | Opens a detail color picker for the tint. A reset control is also available. |
Set custom colors
The active custom preset provides detail pickers for:
- Surface
- Surface Secondary
- Component Accent
- Background Accent
- Text Main
- Text Inverted
Configure text rendering
Use Syntax highlighting to choose Adaptive or Manual (Shiki) rendering. When you select Manual, Manual theme provides the full Shiki theme list. The preview shows live TypeScript and Markdown samples so you can review the result before using it elsewhere.
Wallpaper
The Wallpaper section lets you start from a preset or build a solid, gradient, image, or shader background.
At the top of the section, the theme link shows the active theme preset name. Choose Open to return to Theme.
Image wallpapers
Under Presets, choose a built-in photo preset or a custom image. Use Choose from files to select your own image.
For an image wallpaper, Image Filters offers:
- Original
- Paper
- Fluted Glass
- Water
- Dithering
- Heatmap
Each filter has a Customize control for its shader parameters and the next preset.
Animated wallpapers
The Animated collection includes:
- Liquid Metal
- Gradient
- Warp
- Dithering
- Grain
- Neuro Wave
Each animated option also provides Customize.
Solid and gradient wallpapers
Under Custom, choose:
- Solid to open the Solid color picker.
- Gradient to set Start and End colors and an Angle from 0–360°.
The available wallpaper kinds are image, solid, gradient, and shader.
Terminal
The Terminal section controls tabs, fonts, color profiles, glass effects, and layered backgrounds.
Text, cursor, and colors

| Follow desktop wallpaper | On uses the desktop wallpaper; off enables a custom Terminal background. |
When Follow desktop wallpaper is on, Source previews the current wallpaper. When it is off, the custom background controls provide the same preset, filter, animated, solid, and gradient choices available in Wallpaper.
